Let your creativity shine through in the Pot-a-Doodle Do Interactive Art Studio: Whether you’re arty or not, you’ll love the fun and entertaining things to make and do at Pot-a-Doodle Do. Children love crafting and become fully absorbed in making and painting as soon as they arrive. But mums and dads don’t need to sit on the sidelines and watch. Roll those sleeves up, slip on an apron and join in the fun too!
The Chain Bridge Honey Farm visitor centre (above) was established in the early 1990s to allow the public to discover first hand the extraordinary tale of bees and honey.
A most popular display is the observation hive where a living colony of bees can be viewed behind glass.
Perched on top of a rocky island crag, accessible only by causeway, Lindisfarne Castle (above) with its Gertrude Jekyll walled garden and fantastic views of Bamburgh Castle is great for exploring. Excitingly it is on a tidal island, which means that the Holy Island causeway is covered twice a day, so you need to check the tide timetables when planning your trip to ensure you can get back and forth when you want to.
Discover the beautiful Farne Islands and tour the famous Longstone Lighthouse aboard The Golden Gate, which is the only vessel licensed to land on Longstone Island. See grey seals, puffins and shags. Leaves from Seahouses harbour (above).
The Grace Darling Museum is a fascinating tribute to an extraordinary lady, particularly in an age when ladies were neither expected nor encouraged to be extraordinary! Grace Darling was 22 years old and living in the lighthouse with her family when they spotted a shipwreck on a nearby sandbank during a storm.
The Swan Centre offers a freeform shallow pool for the smaller kids plus a nice 25m main swimming pool which includes a tube style flume slide and a rather excellent wave machine! The big fun features and the inflatable play sessions are specially scheduled however, so be sure to check ahead on their timetables when you’re planning or you’ll be getting seriously told off in small angry voices!
